looks awesome. quick question. when not being used on a mobile 'trolley' can the saw be bolted down to a fixed work surface?
Great Tips!! Thank you!!!
Don't give up!! Would love to see some more on this! Maybe when you've finished your workshop, and its good weather again, you could carry on!?!? Really enjoying all your videos!! Keep up the excellent work!!!
But the DeWalt you mentioned cannot cut steel, aluminum, copper, plastic or concrete. Is there any universal equivalent for this Evolution saw?
It looks and sounds brilliant, but... my experience of Evolution matches that of others: quality control. Get lucky, you have a near perfect tool for a stunning price. Get unlucky, and you'd better not have an important job to do while you return it and eke out a bit more life out of your old one. I suspect it's safest to wait till rebuilt returns go on sale so they will have made sure they work properly. Like all prosumer tools, OK for DiYer who is able to identify faults and get them rectified or the professional who doesn't use that tool all the time. As a retired DiYer who is time rich but cash not rich, I'd look at it, maybe try a refurb version to replace my current almost junk Rutland Tools ultra-cheap model. But I'd probably end up saving up for DeWalt corded if it still does well in reviews by new purchasers (they seem to have given up on their corded tools in last 5 years). It often only takes a couple of DiY jobs to cover the cost of a pro tool compared with hiring a pro to do the job (if you can find a good one)

give credit to the guy that originally came out with the idea. You act like it's all your idea and are happy to receive all praise but give no credit to the original video. ua-cam.com/video/EfkchldRTg8/v-deo.html
What is the maximum blade width ?
Thankyou - great video - straight to all the relevant bits & very concise. I was wondering whether I needed one and wanted something not too expensive but still usable (cheap not always wise). So I'll buy the Titan & switch the blade. Thanks again for all the good tips.
Glad you liked it, thanks 🙏
I bought one of these, noticed first now half a year later that the left miter slot is horrible. It's width varies by like 0.25mm. 19.3mm to 19.55mm. I guess they are cheap for a reason, no quality control. I thought I'd buy a somewhat decent miter gauge, but that didn't help. Narrow at the start, then wide in the middle and the last 1/5th really narrow. Like 19.4mm the first 3cm, 19.55mm in the middle and 19.3 at the end.
I don't have this issue on mine... But it doesn't shock me that these errors can get through quality control either. Are you still under warranty?
It’s a decent job, but I’m not convinced it will last as long as pressure treated soft wood. Even beech rots relatively quickly when cut into logs, especially when you create lap joints as you did. However, I am sure it will last many years and look nice.
🤞🤞🤞
Good video, but I wonder what the hard way is? What happens to the DPM around the sides?
Haha that’s a fair point! I used the DPM under the timber frame too. I cover it on the next episode (timber walls)
@@sumeraybuilds Okay, thanks, makes sense.
What a waste of time
😂
I'll be building one myself...I have the same table saw too 👌
Great! Good luck!
Brilliant how to video. One of those jobs I’ll get round to eventually. 4.21 …appears your garden chair felt redundant ! On a serious note..great video
Haha 😂 thanks 🙏
I went out and bought these on Amazon thinking it would be easy and cheap. There were no instructions provided in the description. Only when looking at the same product on B&Q website it says you need 80-100mm layer of MOT type 1... Do you really need it? I have clay soil if that makes a difference
Depends on what you're putting on it. If you just have a small shed and existing base is solid then you'll be fine.
I laid too many. Is there a trick to lifting them, on my own?
I've not had to. I imagine the key is going to be pateince or brute force 😂😂
I swear those weed barriers never work
So far so good!

insulation arc comming soon?
Cladding first, then electrics, then insulation. Just the cladding is taking ages!
Affordable at £299 🙈
I think that’s good for what it is. They do have cheaper saws available too. Plus you can get 10% off now using my code.
Very informative! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Silicone first? Very sneaky
👍
How much metore range?
I can’t remember and can’t find it online. I think it was 50m from memory
Can you buy a non permable version of this. ( dosent let water in)
Honestly, no idea!
Waste of time watching this to then realise it's not even available in the UK sigh
Yeah I know, I was told it was coming soon when I reviewed it!
@@sumeraybuilds no worries i realised that I don't need table saw anyway and need the mitre saw instead :)
I've just subscribed to your channel. My husband and I are having a cabin put in our garden (4.5m wide x 3.5m deep). Got a quote for paving to be done. But my husband and I are considering doing the base ourselves----good for the muscles, lessons for the brain, contentment at the thought of doing and completing it ourselves. But what's best, concrete or this new grid base?
Good for you!! Personally I’d suggest spending about 20% of what the shed/ cabin/ workshop cost on the base. If you’re budget allows then concrete is 100% the best way to go in terms of longevity and how hardwiring it is. But if a fairly cheap shed then the grid base stuff works great 👍
Hi there, I've got another sort of "stupid" question: We're thinking using the grid, but put a thin layer of concrete on top of the grid / pea shingle. Is this doable, viable, logical? We're also thinking putting bricks around the perimeter of the grid as edging for the grid base, locked in with concrete. I know, kinda silly question, but need your advice. Help! Is it obvious I'm a first time DIY-er 😅
I wouldn’t advise doing this. 75/100mm of hardcore with 100mm of concrete is the bare minimum you’ll want to do if you want concrete. I’d imagine the concrete would break apart pretty quick if you did put it on top of those grids
@@sumeraybuilds Thanks! Was just watching your Concrete Base video. What did you do with the DPM extra on the sides----were they cut off?
@bernieb515 yes they were cut off. I think I show that in this video. Still going strong
Thanks for the video. I’m thinking about buying it to engrave on my aluminium products, while it’s the least talked about in the video 😅 Did you test on metal surface and is the result/resolution good?
It’ll engrave on covered metal, because it removes the covering. But you won’t get a decent engrave in any metal with this. It’s a pretty ‘soft’ finish that’s only visible at certain angles.
Excellent build. Amazing. Greetings from the USA.
Thank you very much!
Brilliant Video. Told me everything I needed to know regarding calibrating my saw. Excellent, and thank you very much.
Glad it helped
Also :58 wtf man. Freehanding a cross cut against the fence on a UA-cam video. To all reading this click another video this guy is going to get you hurt. The carbide of the tooth should be above the piece. Not “the less the better” there is a correct amount
👍
How can you make a video on safety when you have no outfeed support and your pieces are just falling on the ground. Make a damn outfeed table man
Haha it’s on the to do list!
*Henry
😂
Just in case lolol
😂
How do you rate this against the dewalt table saw. I have an SIP 10" table saw at the mo and am looking for an upgrade. Even my table isn't flat
It’s in 2nd place of all the table saws I’ve tested. Dewalt is still no 1!
@@sumeraybuilds Was looking at prices earlier and think with my budget I would have to go for the Evolution to be honest
So glad I came across your video before I started my job 👍👊
Glad it helped!
You should build a workbench from free/cheap materials as part of the challenge, not everyone has a workbench or garden table to use as a work area when they first get started :)
Excellent suggestion, I’ll do it in the next episode once I return to this!
@sumeraybuilds Have you continued using the Skil to get a senes of strengths and weaknesses IRL? I have the TS6307 (NA version). Being fair, I wouldn't have a table saw but for the price and it's served me well in cutting pine and ply for shop stuff for the last year but...I found the table's not exactly flat and there's flex in the throat plate - trade offs for the price point. As I'm planning to try some more 'fine' furniture, I found some wobble in the blade (thin kerf). I've not given up on my Skil and there are a couple of things to try to improve accuracy, but I'm keeping an eye out for cabinet saws as I may have already outgrown this entry level machine.
Thanks for your comment. I have continued using the Skil and have a good sense of its strengths and weaknesses in real-world applications. I haven’t had issues with the table not being flat or with a wobbly throat plate, as mine is metal now. However, I do find the lack of soft start quite jarring - it’s almost scary without it when you’re used to having it! Another feature I wish it had is wheels or a rolling stand for better portability. I still think the DeWalt table saw is the GOAT for its overall performance and reliability. Thanks again for your input and good luck with your future projects!
@@sumeraybuilds Care to share your tips for squeezing more accuracy out of this machine?
Im glad this video popped up on from my search. I had been searching for this exact thing but i wasnt getting the responses I was looking for. This is perfect. I am building a miter saw/table saw workbench and wanted this at the end of the table. This one is even better than what I was thinking of.
Glad I could help!
I have just bought one, and your recommendation was spot-on, IMO. Set up was perfect. I am a beginner woodworker, so I appreciated just being able to clip on the fence, taking a few measurements, and checking for square. The cuts I have made so far are amazingly clean and effortless. I haven’t been able to make long, thin cuts before, so it's a game changer for my hobbies and interests. FFX often do promotions, and mine cost just under 400 quid. All the best. Richie.
Glad I could help! You got a great deal!
Example.....is that you?😅
Haha are you suggesting that I look like Example? 😂
Why rubber roof and not black corrugated steel? Is that because of the pitch?
To be honest I didn’t look into the science of which is better too much. I just know that many people opt for rubber on these garden rooms . I like that there’s less height required, no fixings leading to leak points, easy installation and it’s affordable.
I already own an Evolution chop saw. It's a great bit of kit!
Yeah I agree!
How’s does it attach to the other side of the table?
Trust & gravity
@@sumeraybuilds 😳
I bought a car once they included 4 wheels - any table saw includes a riving knife, a blade guard. But a push stick WOW!
😂 not everyone knows that!
That's a great idea. I'm sure you could source a router fence to place in front of the Dewalt fence for close quarter work.
That's a great idea!
What is the purpose of the plastic grids? I've never seen those before. What would be the advantage over compacting some limestone?
They support the gravel and keep it level. Without them the ground wouldn’t stay level. Compacted limestone doesn’t drain the water as efficiently
